Rami A. Gal, MD, FACC, RVT

Dr. Rami A. Gal is Director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Laboratories (Echocardiography, Vascular Ultrasound, Stress, and Nuclear Cardiology) at the Milwaukee Heart Institute of Aurora-Sinai Medical Center and Co-Director at the Diagnostic Center of Comprehensive Cardiovascular Care Group.

He has chaired our biennial echocardiography symposium since 1988 and our annual nuclear cardiology symposium since 1995; both national meetings are held in Milwaukee. Dr. Gal has been meeting coordinator or moderator for multiple national and international scientific meetings.

He has presented at more than 100 national and international scientific sessions, including the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, National Managed Care Physician Leadership Conference, American Society of Echocardiography, American Federation for Clinical Research, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine, and has been a guest speaker in Europe, North and South America, Israel and Egypt.

His past and present service to professional organizations includes being representative to the Negotiated Rulemaking Committee on Clinical Laboratory Tests for the American College of Cardiology, a member of the Community-Based Practice Committee for the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, a member of the Computer Application Committee for the American Society of Echocardiography, and Director of Governmental Affairs Committee for the Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.

He has published 50 original manuscripts and has written two book chapters. He has also authored three guest editorials and has developed an instructional videotape about Transesophageal Echocardiography.

Dr. Gal was the 1st Milwaukee cardiologist to perform transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) on an infant and an adult and to perform a stress TEE. He has been strongly involved in shaping professional standards and guidelines, locally (for the State Medical Society, several hospitals, and managed care organizations) and nationally (for Medicare and the American College of Cardiology).
